This portion of the letter was written to Wilson Nickle (1811-1881) by his brother John Nickle (1816-1875). Here is an image of the entire side of the sheet written by John, which is the back side of sheet on which his brother William wrote:

John's writing to his brother reads as follows:

Dear [Brother]

[We recei]ved your letter yest[er]day and [was?] sorry [to hear?] that you was so bad of[f] for money I send you here three dollars I had money this long time but could not get any small notes that was good until this morning you say you did not get the note I sent back for so long lowe was to stop at your house as he we[nt?] back and leave it I got one dollar from him which he was to let you know I would have wrote sooner but I was waiting every day for som[e] money that I knew was good we are commenceing to mow grass and grain are very light there will be no reaping done here before the 20 of this month I was not at home when the other letter was rote nor did not know of them sending it or I would have sent you a five dollar Bill that I had I am crop[p]ing James Hustons place we have twelve acres of oats we have twelve acres of fallows broke up if you come up in the fall I will go down with you times are geting prety good here we can get money for oats and rye grain will be higher this fall it is riseing now we had a very wet spring untill the midle of may and since that time it has been very dry we heard that fruit was killed down there it will be plenty her[e] wages is from sixty two to seventy five per day in cash wheat is sixty two per bushel rye fifty six bacon can be had for money at from 6 to 8 cents a pound jim say has got a wife at last he was married a few weeks ago to susan shively but he had to hook her I have no more at present but remains yours while life remains
