TAKEN IN DEATH
REV. O. H. NICKLE
Rev. O. H. Nickle, retired Methodist minister, died at his home at Seneca at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. His age was 88 years.
The deceased, a former Venango County school teacher, had been in the ministry for 59 years and served pastorates through New York and Pennsylvania.
He was one of the best known residents of the Seneca district.
He was born at Nickleville on April 12, 1855, a son of Daniel D. and Mary Ann Myers Nickle. Rev. Nickle entered the ministry in 1884 and up until the time of his death he had officiated at 180 weddings, 615 funerals, 510 baptisms and also preached 5,680 sermons. He conducted 100 revivals, converted 1500 and received 1,180 into the church.
Only last Christmas Rev. And Mrs. Nickle observed their 65th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Nickle is the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Linn of Van.
Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. A. M. Sweet, Kennedy, N.Y.; Mrs. L. E. Watson, Seneca; Mrs. M. C. Main and Mrs. V. S. Snapp, Wesleyville.
The body will lie in state in the Seneca Methodist church from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday and a funeral service will be conducted at 2:30.
