William's writing to his brother reads as follows:
Dear Bro[the]r
In Rece[ipt of you]r lette[r, w]e were glad to hear that you and yours were all well you speak of being up here in the fall we would be glad to see you, you say that there is a tract of Land lying near you unsold and that if some of us was down there you would be contented I would be glad to be near you but can not think of disposing of what property I have here and run the risk of [h?]urting myself again should you come up in the fall it may be that I might go down with you and see your country and if it pleases me if I can sell here so that I can purchase where you are it is likely I will exchange
We wish you would enquire as much as possible and try to find out whether Brother James is about the hanging Rock or not and if you hear of him write to us immediately on account of the family as we expect the children will be scat[t]ered little William has been here for a week past and started for his mothers yesterday
Hannah has been teaching school for two months or more and expects to continue till fall at ten dollars per month if you come up in the fall she will likely go down with you, We have another heir it was born the 29th April we have named it Emily Katherine
Elisabeth would have wrote a few lines to Esther but John being in a hurry to send this to the post ofice she did not take time but unites in sending her Respects to you all When you see Jordan give my Respects [to] him and tell him that Levi Rumberg has lost his Reason again but is getting so[me] better
