William Wilson Nickle is the second man from the right in the front row. His son, William Larkin Nickle (1893-1938), is the second
man from the left and
is standing with one foot on a rail. This photograph was a picture postcard sent by William Wilson Nickle to
his uncle, Daniel Merritt Nickle, on the afternoon of 10 September 1909 from St. Joe, Arkansas.

William Wilson Nickle is the man on the far left. The cardboard on which this photo is mounted bears the following inscription:
"Bill Nickle Boss of Section crew of
M and N.A." In a later hand is added, "Missouri & North Arkansas."
